The grass was covered with a thick layer of frost this morning, and the ramp to the barn was slick and icy. The chickens were glad to get out of their coop, despite the cold. Inside the barn it was still quite warm; no ice on the animals' water yet. There was just one egg in the nest box this morning. I popped it in my shirt pocket while I fed and watered everyone, and headed back into the house.
When I got to work and took off my coat, I found that the egg was still in my pocket, thankfully not broken!
